Why is it important to keep your Windows up-to-date?

Windows is a complex software system where thousand modules combined together to build one perfect product - the most famous operation system for PC computers in the world.

As many other software, Windows has some bugs and errors which occasionally occur. Microsoft programmers fix those problems and allow all users download and install updates to keep your software secure and fresh.

If you download and install new updates as they available, that takes few minutes for each update once or twice a month. However, if you never updated your computer, it may take few hours.

Update Windows 7

  1. Go to Start, All Programs,select Windows Update and then on the left side menu select Change Settings
  2. In section Important Updates select Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. Click OK button to apply settings
  3. Hit Check for Updates button to find new updates. If new updates are available, you will see Install Updates button
  4. Click Install Updates button
  5. Restart your computer after it's done

Update Windows Vista

  1. Start, All Programs, Windows Update, and then on the left side menu select Change Settings
  2. In section Important Updates select Check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them. Click OK button to apply settings
  3. Click Check for Updates link on the left side menu to find new updates. If new updates are available, you will see Install Updates button
  4. Click Install Updates button
  5. Restart your computer when you see The updates were successfully installed

Update Windows XP

  1. Hit Start button, All Programs, Windows Update, and then Internet Explorer opens Microsoft Update web page.
  2. This page may prompt to install plug-in, click Yes
  3. Then you'll see Express button, hit it to scan for updates. If new updates are available, you will see Install Updates button
  4. Click Install Updates button
  5. Restart your computer when you see Installation complete

Windows Update Errors and Issues

One of the common errors is 0X800C0008 occurs when your computer time or date is different with microsoft server time. Check your clock and calendar and synchronize if needed. Try to run Windows Update again.

If your computer has failure time and date, it means the CMOS battery of your computer has to be changed.
